The guitars' premium, carved quilted maple top adds to the instruments's aesthetic appeal and comes in many colours including a unique blue burst finish that displays a wide patch of clear-stained maple.

The set neck is thin, flat and fast, with a 1.69 inch nut and a quilted maple headstock overlay that matches the body's top. Gold hardware includes Grover Tuners and a Tune-O-Matic and Stop Tail Bridge. The two Baker Humbuckers are set close together, enabling them to amplify overtones that other guitars' pickups miss. Controls for the B1 include a single volume knob, a three-way pickup selector and dedicated tone controls that coil tap each humbucking pickup.

These guitars are designed to facilitate speed and clarity, the action is set fairly flat and the rock hard ebony fret board adds a bright energy and clear cut edge to every note.

The Baker shines when the amp gain is turned up and the neck pick up is selected. It sings with long sustain and has an ability to produce harmonic nuances and a warm Santana-esque intensity. This guitar is beautifully built, is sleek and and brings you the brilliance of Gene Baker's design at a reasonable price. It is enough to cover any playing style and comfortable to play for long stretches.
